short statement does not describe everything Christians believe about
God, but summarises those points that we feel are most important. These
points are clearly taught in the Scriptures which are God’s word for us,
useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness. (2 Tim 3:16)
believe in a Holy God, who has made himself known as Father, Son and
Holy Spirit. A God who created us, who loves us, and who wants the very
best for us. That very best means he wants us to reach his standards, to
be as holy, as loving, and righteous as he is.
believe that we miss those standards, time and time again. That we've
done things wrong. That everyone does things wrong, messes up, makes
mistakes, chooses the lower path. In other words, we all sin. Sin is a
nasty word, it makes people squirm when it gets applied to them. It has
had that effect on all of us. But we believe sin is a reality and has
believe those consequences include a breakdown in the relationship
between God and man. We believe that this causes God pain, He loves us
and longs to restore the relationship. Ignoring our sin is not a
possibility, that is not the action of a loving parent, nor is it the
action of a just and holy God.
believe that God provided a way out of that impasse for us. We believe
that Jesus, the Son of God, died and rose from the dead so that our sin
can be wiped away, not only forgiven but completely removed. We believe
that this is something we haven't earned, could never deserve but that
God in his love freely offers us.
We believe this offer of forgiveness and relationship with God is freely available to anyone who:
1)Repents of their sin, that is: recognises it, is sorry for it, and consciously turns away from it, wanting to be different.
2)Commits themselves to following Jesus wholeheartedly.
We believe that this can be done as simply as speaking to God, asking forgiveness and making that commitment to him.
